Q: What size file do I need to print say an 8x10?

A: We print everything at 300 dpi but that is not always necessary printing you can get away with 200 dpi. So if you take 8 x 200 you get 1600 and 10 x 200 you get 2000 so that is a 1600 pixels x 2000 pixels or 3.2 megapixels This will give you a fine 8x10. You can use this general rule of thumb for photographic printing with us.

Q: I have a 4 megapixel camera how big can I make my prints?

A: If you look at your highest resolution it should be something like 1704 x 2272, multiply the two together you will get approx. 4 million pixels hence 4 megapixels. This should lend you about a 11 mb file. You can use this example on any pixel dimension.

Q: Why do my images get cropped off the top and bottom when I order 4x6s?

A: Most point and shoot cameras have a ratio of 4:5.333 instead of the normal 4:6 like film always has been.
